If you’re ready to spring clean your home, you won’t want to miss this list of deep cleaning household chores that will ensure your home is squeaky clean in no time at all! Also included is a totally free spring cleaning checklist printable. It’s a helpful way of tracking what’s been done while you’re moving around the house, and I hope it helps keep you focused.

I really do love having a clean home.

But actually cleaning it?

Well – sometimes it can be a joy, and sometimes it’s a real chore. It depends on my mood, and to be honest – how nice the weather is outside!

When the sun shines I feel the need to turn some music on, open the windows to get some fresh air in, and get the house sparkling.

I don’t know why it’s this way…. but maybe, just maybe, it’s got something to do with the fact that the sunshine shows off all the corners of the house that little more clearly than the winter light did – and there’s a few cobwebs showing that were previously hidden…..

I’m sure I’m not the only one!

There’s something really therapeutic about cleaning, when you really tackle it head on and get loads done – and that’s where spring cleaning comes in!

I think my favourite part though is that feeling when it’s all done. When I can sit down with a cuppa and enjoy the (albeit brief!) time that everything is immaculate.

With all this being said, a good deep clean can be something that’s done at any time of year (I tend to do it each season, which means that it never gets too out of control!), but Spring is definitely the nicest time to get it all done.

I suppose that’s why we hear about spring cleaning so much, and winter/summer/autumn cleaning less so….

Make Spring Cleaning Easier

Spring cleaning can come with a lot of overwhelm, in terms of how much needs to get done. But I’m here to say that it really needn’t be that way.

You don’t need to take a week off work to tackle it – and you certainly shouldn’t feel like it’s too much of a chore.

As such, I’ve put together a spring cleaning checklist for you – but I’d like to note that there is no time limit here.

Whether you have half an hour a day, or want to do everything in one day – it’s UP TO YOU.

For me, I DO love to tackle my spring cleaning over just a day or two – as it feels great to have it all done at once, but you work as you see fit and as your schedule allows.

All you have to do, is follow the checklist, tick each task off as you do it – and do every job on the list.

You’ll know where you are with everything, and you can even delegate tasks if you have family that can help.

Imagine that sense of accomplishment when it’s all done (there’s nothing like ticking things off a list to create motivation!).

My #1 Tip For Spring Cleaning

One thing I’d really like to mention before we get started (and that I think is crucial in avoiding overwhelm) is that my Spring Cleaning checklist is purely for, well, cleaning!

Sounds logical, right – but most people try and also declutter AND organise as they go round their home.

Most checklists I’ve found so far have tasks that run to pages and pages because of these extra tasks. And who wants that much to do?

PLEASE PLEASE separate these tasks.

Declutter as it’s own job, trust me, that’s big enough! – then clean what’s left – and then organise. Doing it this way means you can focus on one thing at a time, and you’ll get through it Oh so much more easily.

TIP – There is a sort of exception to this rule, however. What I would suggest before you start your cleaning is a QUICK tidy up and getting rid of obvious rubbish. This makes sense because then you aren’t trying to clean around things quite as much. We all have some stuff lying around in our day to day lives, so it makes sense to at least do a tidy round the house first before spring cleaning.

Right – that being said – shall we get on to the main event?!

Spring Cleaning Tasks

Below you’ll find a detailed rundown of all those tasks that I include in my Spring Cleaning.

I have added to each section a reminder to write down all the DIY/trades jobs that I come across as there are bound to be a few things I notice when I’m cleaning.

Whether I do them myself, hubby does them, or we get a tradesperson in – it doesn’t matter – what matters is that they are noted at this point but they’re not distracting from the job at hand.
