See what others have said about organising somehow makes things easier (I know it does for me!) so I hope you enjoy reading all these fantastic sayings as well…
These quotes can help put perspective on things when it comes to getting organised (whatever home or life project you’re currently tackling).
So – let’s get straight to the quotes, shall we!
Organising quotes You’re Going to Love!
“Being organized isn’t about getting rid of everything you own or trying to become a different person. It’s about living the way you want to live – but better…” – Andrew Mellen
I think this is my favourite, because it makes you think about a totally different perspective on getting organised.
All too often we get stuck on the fact that being organised means being perfect about everything – and it’s just not true!
Being organised is actually much more about just making your life simpler and decluttering – and I think that’s much more achievable and less stressful, don’t you?

“Simplicity boils down to two things: Identify the essential, and eliminate the rest” – Leo Babauta
This saying from Leo Babauta is a similar message to the first two parts of my ADORE Method – Assessing what’s going well and what isn’t, and Decluttering anything that gets in the way of that.
Yes – it really can be that simple to get more organised, so don’t be tempted to over complicate things…
“Organise your life around your dreams and watch them come true” – Unknown
This is a great quote, and a brilliant mindset shift! – if you’re just intent on getting organised with no goals in mind – then you won’t ever feel like you’ve achieved anything.
Instead, you want to plan what you want, and then aim for that. This will stop you feeling dissatisfied with your progress.
“Deciding what NOT to do is as important as deciding what TO do” – Steve Jobs
This is where a lot of people get themselves stuck – with writing down EVERYTHING in a brainstorm and then calling that their TO DO list.
Instead, try and prioritise what’s really important to do and take away things that are simply nice things to get done as and when there’s time.
This will make getting organised much quicker, and less overwhelming.
“There is nothing more calming than an organised home” – Unknown
So very true… You really can’t beat the feeling of coming home to a space where you can instantly relax rather than being faced with a full TO DO list of things to get done.
“Organising is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up” – A.A.Milne
…otherwise you end up being busier than you need to be – the complete opposite of being organised!
“Calm House, Calm Life” – Unknown
When you get organised, you really will feel calmer.
Just think about what could change:
- Less arguing about lost items
- Less stress about being late
- Less money wasted buying things that you already had
and so much more!
“Fail to plan, plan to fail” – Winston Churchill
Planning takes time. Yes. But that time will SAVE you time later on. When you don’t plan, you may have to spend hours changing things again, doing things over – etc….
“Often the difference between organised and dis-organised is the little habits we do each day without really thinking” – Chrissy Halton
One of my organising quotes! – (I couldn’t resist!) – and I wanted to add it into the mix because habits really do make all the difference.
Once you add little habits to your daily routines, then staying organised will feel much easier…
“Organising is a journey, not a destination” – Unknown
Another key thing to remember about getting organised is you don’t just ‘get organised’ and that’s that.
Far from it – it’s an ongoing process.
Kind of like cleaning your house. You may do a massive clean, but you know it will need doing again before long.
The difference though is that while cleaning sort of starts from scratch each time – organising gets easier and easier the more you do it.
Setting up the right systems that make your life easier means that staying organised means it’s only tweaking that’s needed as and when life changes happen – and then you’re set!
So – don’t treat it like a proverbial crash diet and go back to the burgers when you’ve reached your goal – otherwise you’ll end up back where you started and it will all have been for nothing.
Slow and steady progress, ongoing, is what’s needed (and this is definitely one of my favourite organising quotes / sayings!)
“Organized people are just too lazy to go looking for what they want” – Albert Einstein
Hands up if you’re lazy, and proud of it…. I know I am!
“A place for everything, and everything in its place” – Mrs Beeton
Probably the most famous organising saying – that many people can remember – but it’s easier said than done to have a space for every item you own.
However, if you put in the work and create spaces that work for you and your family, you really WILL reap the rewards.
“Life truly begins when you put your house in order” – Marie Kondo
I totally agree with this Marie Kondo quote, because when you’re home is organised, it supports your life and living it becomes much less stress.
“Mess equals unclean to the subconscious mind” – Chrissy Halton
And not only is this saying true – but also you have MORE cleaning to do when you have mess around, because you end up having to move things to get to where you need to clean.
I for one don’t want to spend any extra time cleaning – so getting organised is key for sure!
“Alongside great systems and routines, habits are key to becoming, and staying, organised” – Chrissy Halton
Habits will help you stay organised more easily. Just like you clean your teeth every day and don’t really think about it, which keeps your teeth healthy – so too can little habits in your home keep you clutter free.
“One of the advantages of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries.” – A.A. Milne
“Wherever my keys are….I hope they’re happy” – Unknown
I couldn’t resist putting in a funny as well! – Love this, as it’s so true…
Which is your favourite of this collection of organising quotes?
I hope you’ve found at least one that you could really relate to (and I hope it’s not the one about lost keys!)
