Here’s a quick and easy trick to make cleaning up after painting much easier. Less mess, less hassle, and more time for you. Sounds good? Let’s get started…
I love painting walls and decorating – it’s the way that paint can change the whole look of a room or item of furniture so quickly – but I hate clearing away after doing so.
Luckily over the years I have worked out a quick and easy way to save 100% of the time usually spent cleaning the paint tray – and I wanted to share it with you today.
My solution is very simple really – but very effective! – to ensure you no longer need to clean the paint tray you just have to cover it.
I’ve tried a variety of ways to do this but have found that the best way is as follows:-
1. Wrap a plastic bag around the tray (so that it sort of sits inside the bag)
2. Add a layer of foil on top of the tray and bag and squeeze it around the edge of the tray so that it stays neatly in place.
NOTE – I used to just use a bag, but this had a tendency to not stay in place very well by itself, and the foil by itself tended to tear too easily causing the paint to leak into the tray anyway which kind of defeated the object of the exercise!
After I finish decorating I can simply fold the foil in on itself, and then take the plastic bag off and turn it inside out on itself, so that it wraps around the foil – and then everything can be disposed of neatly and VERY quickly.
That gives me more time to wash my hands and get changed – and get on with the rest of the stuff I need to get done.
Any time I can make a chore quicker, I’m in – what about you?!
I hope that this helps you when you next have to decorate or paint something, and that the time you save can be used for something a lot more interesting instead!
