Themes to try when buying a gift for A DIY Lover…
So – we’ve looked at some brilliant ideas of what to get, but let’s look now at why these make great gifts.
Because – what makes a good gift for someone who enjoys DIY?
Let’s take a look at the main ‘themes’ I always consider to be good ones for these people – because these will give you loads of inspiration too…
#1 – Personalised DIY Tools
Everyone love something personalised, because it shows that you’ve not only thought about what they enjoy, but also taken the time to get it made specifically for them.
If your partner or friend is always in their workshop or garage working on some kind of project, why not get them something they’d find useful and get their name on it?
Things in this area could include:
- Hammer
- Paintbrush
- Tape Measure
- Ruler
#2 – Multi Tools
DIY-ers are always using many different tools, so it makes sense to buy them something that not only helps them but also decreases what they have to carry around to complete tasks.
That’s where a multi-tool comes in!
The obvious gift that springs to mind here is a penknife. Lots of uses in one little item. But you can also find other options for many different DIY tasks.
I’ve found great multi tools for a cycle enthusiast who likes to dismantle and put their bikes together, a tape measure and pen combo for a stained glass maker – and so many more.
TIP – Keep looking wherever you are because these sorts of things crop up in the strangest of places! Grab them when you see them and you’ll have the perfect present ready and waiting when the time comes.
#3 – DIY supply Organisers
Any DIY lover will have lots of things to organise – and so some sort of organiser for everything will always be welcomed.
Think of things like:
- Toolbelt
- Bag / Carry Case
- Small item containers that you can carry around.
- Wall hung unit for tools – SO perfect for keeping things accessible and all neatly in one place. This is a brilliant organising tool that any DIY-er would go crazy over, for sure.
TIP – Make it more personalised by adding a few items into the container as well. This would be a brilliant idea for a group of people wanting to get something for someone as you can all add one thing to make a really substantial gift.
#4 – Planner / Journal
Another favourite theme for a DIY enthusiast is something to track and plan their projects in.
You could get a gorgeous notepad and set of pens so they can sketch things out – or go for a more luxurious coffee table style book that will track everything beautifully.
#5 – Artwork Related To Their DIY
If they have a craft room or workshop then they may well love to get something to add to the space to make it clear what they love doing.
Things that work well for this would be:
- Door sign – welcome to x’s workshop (for example)
- Quote related to their DIY – funny or inspirational work well. I like the example as it’s a DIY style as well – double points for that!
- Something in their style / colours that will inspire them while they work
So there you have it – loads of ideas for that DIY lover in your life.
I hope they’ve given you loads of ideas . Which will you choose for them?
