{Daily Task #57} – Recipe File Creation

Task #57:

Set up a recipe file for your home

Daily task 57 from - set up a recipe file in your home© Simon Howden |

My Tips and Advice:

Most of us have loads of recipe books in our homes, gathering dust.

There are maybe a handful of recipes in each one that we may want to try, or have tried in the past – but most of the time we don’t even look there for inspiration as its time consuming and day to day life gets in the way.

I love the idea of having a recipe book that you open and find something you want to cook on every page – and the way to do this is to create your own.

It doesn’t have to be fancy at all – a ring binder will do – just add in copies of any recipes you have tried and love, and have a section for recipes that you have found in recipe books and want to try.

That way you will find it much easier to keep everything together, and you can find inspiration when the mood strikes!

(EXTRA TIP – Why not scan everything and then create a computer recipe file to eliminate paperwork altogether!)
(I also love the idea of having recipes that you love as a family made into a book and handed down from generation to generation – but that’s another post entirely!)

How did you get on?

I’d love to know!  –  Do you have a recipe book already? Whats your favourite recipe?

I have an old recipe book in which I have recipes from friends and some written out for me by my grandmother when she came to tea every Tuesday. Her handwriting is perhaps the most precious thing I have left now that she is gone. The recipe book is precious to me even if I no longer cook from it.

Hi Mary Joy – thanks for your comment. I would have loved to have been
able to keep all my nanny and grandmas recipes but alas they went with
them to a better place in the end x – it’s such a lovely keepsake and I
can understand why it’s so precious to you.
