It’s infographic time again here at Organise My House, and this one is a fantastic way of remembering some of the key things to do to stage your home when you come to sell it.
Having written quite a few posts myself on staging (with more in the pipeline!), including my A to Z of Home Staging, and 13 things NOT to do when selling – I was pleased to find this infographic and I wanted to share it with you too.
If you are selling your home in the near future (or know someone who is), then take a look and see which things you are doing and which you need to get started with: –
Some of the things that really stood out to me when reading this were: –
- 81% of people could see themselves and their lives in a staged home – it really does show that doing a little bit of work before you put your home on the market will help it to appeal to many people.
- Never forget the inside of cupboards! – Buyers will look everywhere when they are interested in your home, so make the cupboards look neat and tidy as well – you are giving the wrong signals if a buyer gets hit by an avalanche of your stuff when they open a cupboard to look at the space inside…
- Deep cleaning is essential – and if you can’t get this done yourself, hire a cleaning company. No one wants to live in a dirty home so you will be putting buyers off if they don’t get a real sense that it’s been looked after well.
- Use mirrors instead of paintings – it will bounce light around the room – and the added bonus is that artwork is very personal and mirrors are less personal so you won’t alienate buyers with your own taste.
I’m not sure I would go as far as leaving snacks for potential buyers so that they feel welcome – I always think that that makes the home feel TOO staged, but you choose what is right for you!.
Hopefully you will have got a few ideas from this, and if you want even more, why not head to THIS POST for my tips on what NOT to do!
