Why not create your very own DIY gifts in a jar for that special person in your life to show them you care? Whether it be for Christmas, Easter, a Birthday or just a special day in their lives – a gift in a jar is a personalised present thats easy to make. Heres a collection of ideas and inspiration for you to create your own – hope they help!

When I was growing up, myself and my best mate didn’t have a lot of money for presents for each other – and as such we were pretty clever with what we came up (even if we do say so ourselves!).
I specifically remember Easter – where the tradition was to put lots of our favourite treats into a basket or other container – as a personalised gift that was cost effective, but meant a lot.
We got very good at making a little cash go a long way – but it was the fact that we had spent that little bit extra time in creating something unique for each other that was so lovely…
Nowadays, I still like to give lovely presents for anyone I buy for – ones that mean a lot and that also show that I know them well etc…
As such – when I came across a similar idea on different sites, I had to share it with you.
That idea? Gifts in a jar.
Basically – easy DIY collections of small items that make up a theme for the recipient, or that have a specific use for them. Simple – but brilliant!
WHY GIVE GIFTS IN A JAR?
So many reasons!:
- You can easily collect things over the year to put into the jars – spreading the cost of presents.
- They can be a lot more personal than a shop-bought present, and could mean more to the person you are giving it to
- They don’t have to be expensive.
- They can make even the smallest of gifts look better
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
#1 – THE JAR!
You could use any container really, but I found some great jars that would do the trick on Amazon that are well reviewed AND don’t cost the earth – you can take a look HERE**
#2 THE CONTENTS OF THE JAR!
You may need a little bit of tissue paper or padding for the items – of which this shredded paper** would work well, and then you’d fill the jar usually with some small items to create a collection of something specific.
