Spend 15 minutes today to make a start on purging some of your files. Get rid of any out of date stuff and anything that doesn’t need to be kept any longer – free up some room in there!.
My Tips and Advice:
In daily task 85 (yesterday!) we looked at getting some of the outstanding filing done. However, one overlooked task can be to purge what you already have in the filing.
PURGE – get rid of something in the best and most optimal way possible (recycle, shred, bin etc…)
If you have time when you file it’s always good to take out the item that the new filing is taking over from (i.e. when you get this years insurance certificated, last years is no longer required)
Today the task is to declutter that filing cabinet as much as you can.
Set your timer for 15 minutes (use the stopwatch on your mobile phone if you don’t have a timer – or if you are near your kitchen, the oven timer is also a great option!) – go through as many files as possible and take out any paperwork that doesn’t need keeping any longer.
TIP – Shred all important documents for safety – and get into the habit of shredding anything with your name and address on as well, even if it means just ripping this part of a piece of paper up to do so.
