{Daily Task #46} – Freezer Defrost

Task #46:

Defrost that freezer – you know you want to!

My Tips and Advice:

It’s not a nice job, but makes a difference to so many things – when your freezer is overloaded with ice, you end up:-

  • Spending more time trying to push your food into the available space
  • Spending more money keeping the excess ice frozen
  • Not being able to buy as much food
  • Making a huge mess of your freezer with ice falling everywhere!

The easiest way to defrost your freezer is as follows:-

STEP ONE – Take everything out of it (It’s a good job that daily task #37 was to do a freezer food use-up – as then you hopefully don’t have much left in it now!)

STEP TWO – Add all the frozen stuff into a cool bag packed with ice so that you don’t let it defrost.

STEP THREE – Switch the freezer off, putting some towels at the base to catch the water as it defrosts.

STEP FOUR – Once all the ice has come away from the freezer, then you can put everything back where it belongs – easy!

I wouldn’t recommend chipping away at the ice with anything as you may end up damaging the freezer itself – which would be a costly exercise!
