{Daily Task #20} Bin Bag Challenge – Recycling

Task #20:

Go around your house and collect together anything that you don’t want/need any longer that’s specifically for recycling.

My Tips and Advice:

We have already tackled bin bag challenge 1 – where you had to simply go around your house and get rid of stuff that was purely rubbish.

Then bin bag Challenge 2 came along on day 10 – which was to find anything around your home that could be taken to charity.

Now its the third of the challenges – the turn of recycling – another form of unwanted stuff that lies around the house.

Recycling could include any of the following, and doesn’t have to just be what your local council will take away for you – some of which you can get some cash back for, which is always a bonus!:-

  • Paper and Cardboard
  • Plastic
  • Glass
  • Clothes and bedding that aren’t good enough for charity
  • Batteries
  • Print Cartridges
  • Bras (lots of tips and other places have specific bra banks to donate)
  • Magazines – give to your local doctors surgery and recycle that way!
  • Furniture
  • Electrical Items

Some recycling stats for you to ponder over:-

  • About 400 kilograms of waste is produced by each Australian household every year
  • 17.7% is the estimate on the amount of rubbish UK is recycling
  • Each person produces 4.6 lbs. of trash per day in the United States

(all stats taken from

How did you get on?

I’d love to know!  –  Do you already recycle a lot in your house, or just a few bits?

I bagged up all my toddler’s outgrown clothes and took them to the local children’s centre to be given to families in need. I was so pleased to hear that they took donations.

What a great idea Ann – and how nice to donate to somewhere you know will appreciate and really use the clothes x

Great post. When I work with clients and when I organize my home, I look for ways to recycle, donate, or repurpose as much as possible. It helps people let go when they know others can use the items. Thanks for sharing.
